Although both contestants impressed the audience with their singing, “Steamed Eggs” ultimately won the round with 68 votes—leading several of the panelists to vocally express their disappointment that “Cypress-Steamed Meat and Vegetables” had been eliminated.

After their performance, host Kim Sung Joo revealed that “Cypress-Steamed Meat and Vegetables” had named CIX’s Bae Jin Young and Hyunsuk as the panelists that were most likely to recognize him. After hearing this hint, Hyunsuk exclaimed, “I think I know who he is. ATEEZ’s main vocal, Jongho.”

“Cypress-Steamed Meat and Vegetables” then went on to perform a lively rendition of Park Jin Young‘s classic hit “Swing Baby,” taking off his mask halfway through the song to reveal his identity.

Sure enough, the talented singer turned out to be none other than ATEEZ’s main vocalist Jongho.

After his unmasking, Jongho revealed that many of his fans abroad had asked him to appear on “The King of Mask Singer.” “Because they know how much I love singing,” he explained. “I personally love emotional ballads.”

He went on to share, “So actually, even though I prepared an exciting dance song for Round 2, I prepared Kim Bum Soo’s ‘A Story Sadder than Sorrow’ for Round 3,” leading the audience to make audible sounds of disappointment at the fact that they wouldn’t be able to hear his cover of the ballad.

Jongho also confessed that he wanted to be known for more than just his famous jaw-dropping high notes. “Within the group, I usually sing a lot of the higher parts in our songs, and there aren’t a lot of opportunities for me to sing on my own,” he said. “So I wanted to break the fixed notion that I’m only good at singing high notes and show that I can do well in other aspects [of singing] as well.”
