Actress Florence Pugh, 26, reveals secret split from actor Zach Braff, 47, after three years of dating

Actress Florence Pugh has revealed that she and actor boyfriend Zach Braff have secretly split.

The Don’t Worry Darling star, 26, shared the relationship update during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, telling the magazine she and Braff, 47, kept the breakup under wraps to avoid criticism from online trolls.

“We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on,” said Pugh, who was widely criticised for dating the Scrubs alum, who is 21 years older than her.

“We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that.”

The actress then admitted that she automatically gets “a lumpy throat when I talk about it”.

The couple first began dating in 2019 after working together on the short film In the Time It Takes to Get There. Their relationship instantly attracted attention, with some fans having difficulty digesting the 21-year age gap.

“I think it bugs people that it’s not who they expected,” Pugh told the Sunday Times last year. “But it’s my life and I’m not doing anything to please people or to make it a better headline or story. I want to also be a person!”

Pugh said she often faces negative responses from people online when she posts something about Braff.

“I have been working since I was 17 years old. I have been earning money since I was 17 years old. I became an adult when I was 18 years old, and I started paying taxes when I was 18 years old,” she said at the time.

“I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love, and I would never in my life ever, ever tell anyone who they can and cannot love. It is not your place, and really it has nothing to do with you. I don’t mind you not liking me, that’s absolutely fine. In which case, don’t follow me,” she said.
